Lansdowne is an ideal location for water enthusiasts who can find lots to do on the St. Lawrence River, just minutes south of Lansdowne, or travel north to Charleston Lake and Charleston Lake Provincial Park.

The Leeds and Thousand Islands Public Library has three branches located within the township borders. These branches offer and share a wide range of materials and services through a comprehensive website. The Lansdowne Branch is located at 1 Jessie St and is housed in the Lansdowne Community Building. Come visit and access a huge collection of books, videos, magazines and many other services.

Leeds and Thousand Islands Public Archives
The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands has a rich history. Artifacts, documents, photos and even home movies and videos have been placed in our Public Archives to highlight and to share this history with residents and visitors. These historic items are housed in the former Escott Town Hall, in the hamlet of Escott just east of Lansdowne on Hwy #2.

Launch your boat at the Outlet Boat Ramp and take a tour of beautiful Charleston Lake. You can also launch your boat at the Ivy Lea Boat Ramp (smaller boats and no trailer parking facilities) and take a tour of the mighty St Lawrence River.

Schools in the Community
As residents of the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands (TLTI), students have several school options.
Located within the village of Lansdowne is the public elementary school, Thousand Islands Elementary School (Grades JK to 6). St Joseph’s Catholic School (Grades JK to 8) is located in Gananoque. Gananoque Intermediate and Secondary School (grades 7-12) is also located in Gananoque. Bussing is provided for students to attend these schools.

Utilities, Water & Sewer, Wells & Septic
TLTI provides the village of Lansdowne with water and sewer services. All other utilities are provided by third parties.
If you are located outside the village, it is the owner’s responsibility to protect the fresh water well and septic system on his/her property. Maintaining and operating these features ensures safe drinking water and a properly functioning septic system. Licensed septic system installers are noted on the website listed below.
Free bacteria testing for residential wells is available through the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit.

Garbage & Recycling
Residents are required to take their household garbage and recycling to the nearest waste site, unless you live within the village of Lansdowne boundaries, in which case you have curbside pick up. Pick up outside of the village can also be arranged.
- Household garbage must be bagged in clear garbage bags and tagged.
- Lansdowne has a very efficient recycling program.
